Now Jonathan, son of the king,
Said to his armor-bearing wing:
“Let’s cross to the outpost yonder,
Perhaps Adonai will work a wonder.”
[ECHO] Perhaps Adonai will work a wonder.”

No sign was given, no trumpet blown,
But faith like fire in marrow shone.
“Whether many or few,” he said with grace,
“The Lord can save in any case.”
[ECHO] “The Lord can save in any case.”

They climbed the cliff on hands and knees,
Past mocking cries and taunting pleas.
“Come up,” the Philistines jeered aloud—
But heaven stirred behind the cloud. But [ECHO]heaven stirred behind the cloud.

A trembling shook the hostile camp,
As if the earth had lit a lamp.
The foes fell down in dread and flight,
For God had joined the hidden fight.
[ECHO] For God had joined the hidden fight.

Saul’s watchmen saw the chaos spread,
The enemy struck, confused, and fled.
Israel rose with sword and shout—
The Lord had turned the battle out.
[ECHO] The Lord had turned the battle out.

So Jonathan, with faith so bold,
Became a tale the prophets told.
Not by might, nor royal decree,
But by trust in the God who sees
.[ECHO] But by trust in the God who sees
